About six months ago, I did some major spring cleaning at home. I got rid of clothes and shoes I haven't worn since my major clean up two years ago, many of which I haven't seen since the day I bought them. Out went stuff like bags, home decor, accessories, etc etc etc that I've accumulated over the years. D*mn!!! That felt good! It was like starting anew!
For reasons mostly unknown, women tend to collect shoes. One time, my groupies in the office started talking about how many shoes we have. Every single one insisted that she had "less than 50." Well, the deal was that we would check when we got home and report the next day. Even with some cheating (which I assume was an automatic reflex and therefore forgiveable), NOT a single one had "less than 50"!
Back to the subject of spring cleaning last August... I must have gotten rid of about 20 to 30 pairs of mostly unused or used only once or twice type of shoes. What was left.. which was about 50... I still could not fit in my shoe cupboard! So the rest had to be kept in boxes and stored in one of my wardrobes. Dangerous!
One of the the reasons why we end up not using most of our shoes is that, if they are in boxes, we forget that they even exist. Fast forward to the present...... After much procrastination, I got myself organized. The idea is not original. But, I am so proud of my work that I just have to blog about it. Here's how you too will know what shoes you have hidden away!
NICE BLOG.

So neat, Missy! It will take me forever to do the same task (the Hong Kong Imelda)!
ReplyDeleteOR,
ReplyDeleteYou can be like Martha Stewart and get those clear shoe boxes (from the Container Store)so you can see exactly what pair is in there.
But who has time to do that anyway?!
Great job organizing. Come visit my house next!
