Hilot

I have grown to like deep-tissue massages. So much pain while it is happening BUT the feeling afterwards is usually one of liberation. I have not been able to exercise much the last few weeks. I've been busy. So, this date with the masseuse is something that I am looking forward to: 2-1/2 hours of pain with my hilot. She comes from a family of albularios (Philippine folk doctors).

My extremities are usually quite cold to touch. (Yes, I can be "cold-blooded"... sometimes!) My masseuse says that's because blood is not circulating properly. I believe her because, after our session, my feet and hands would normally warm up and would stay warm for a few days. My face would also look slightly different afterwards... brighter.

What is your favorite type of massage?

  1. Look up chigong. Not sure how it is spelled.
It is a type of energy movement healing.
    Acupuncture without the needles.
Holistic. Interesting and effective if done by the right person.
