Happy 18th, Rei!

My niece Rei chose to celebrate her 18th birthday with a get-away family/friends weekend in Batangas. We left home at 8 am, picked up members of the party at various points, had pinoy lunch at The Grill by Antonio's in Tagaytay, then proceeded to a rental house in Tali. The house could only accommodate 20 people so the rest of us stayed in rooms at Punta Fuego.

We were supposed to go sailing/boating but because of the typhoon, the seas were pretty rough. So, Rei and her young friends and cousins decided to simply take pictures on the boat then go swimming in the pool. The birthday dinner followed at the Punta Fiego Club House. We had delicious Spanish/Western food but the pièce de résistance was the cake. Pang-kasal ang level!

The highlights of the evening were the bingo and the speeches by cousins, friends, Rei's dad and lolo. Young people can be very sentimental. There were a number of tear-jerker speeches. After dinner, we went back to the house for Rei's birthday salubong at 12 midnight. At 1 am, I bailed out as the "kids" stayed on. How they managed to wake up for breakfast, go swimming again, and then have lunch was a mystery to me! We left Batangas at 1pm and thank God for Cavitex, we were in Manila a little past 3pm.

What a fun weekend that was! The young ladies did not let the weather get in the way. Plans were fluid and adjustable. My goal is to have that attitude towards life!
