Snapshots of Batanes

It was going to be either Misibis Bay or Batanes. Batanes won out in the end.. because Misibis was fully booked. So, on 29 March, the hubby and I flew to Basco, Batanes via SEAAir. It was a short 48-hour visit -- but, we had a great time.

Our plane

The airport - very quaint!
Some snapshots:

Fundacion Pacita - where we stayed (lovely rooms with even lovelier views of the sea and the rolling hills)

Some rolling hills - typical of Batanes

One of two functioning lighthouses El Dorado drying out in the sun - the Ivatans fish for subsistence, these are not sale! =(

Big rock formation

More rocks jutting out from the sea

The Honesty Store - this is an unmanned sari-sari store, you pay as you go, just leave the money in a dropbox

Church of San Jose de Ivana

The oldest house in the area

San Carlos Borromeo Church

Beautiful geography

We had a great time communing with nature and the locals who are called "Ivatans". The weather as very pleasant (several degrees cooler than Manila), the place was simply beautiful and very green, and the food was very healthy. Every Filipino should make it a point visit the beautiful islands of Batanes!!!
