On 16 April 2008, I posted that my weight had gone up to 122 lbs from 113 lbs a year earlier. I wrote that being happy tended to make me eat more. Well, the plan was to monitor the developments yearly. I did not have the guts to post the 2009 reading because it was simply too embarassing 127 lbs. This went up further to 132 lbs right on time for my wedding. Yes, I wanted to gain all that weight thinking that the pictures will look better... I did not want to look like a tingting next to the groom. Usually brides want to lose weight for their weddings -- well, I am different...After the wedding, I thought it was time to get back into shape! I started running more seriously again. As an incentive, I signed up for the Unicef Charity 10km Run in November 2009. Training for it was good fun and so was the day of the race. From September 2009 onwards, I was a regular at Bowen Road's jogging path and I got to use my Pure Fitness membership more.
Early this year, I started to take a special interest in my food. I used to eat out most of the time. Got tired of that. These days, I am all for home-cooked meals! Here's how it looks on a typical day:
Breakfast - plenty of fruits sliced into bite-size pieces which I eat on my desk at work throughout the morning
Lunch - usual portion of meat/poultry/fish/seafood, veggies and half-a-cup of rice
Dinner - usual portion of meat/poultry/fish/seafood, veggies and no rice/no carbs
The report card:
30 April 2010 - 118 lbs
1 year ago - 132 lbs
2 years ago - 122 lbs
2 years ago - 122 lbs
3 years ago - 113 lbs
I think the 118-120lb range is quite ideal for me. My friends here agree. I am there now! Yippee! I need to do a bit of fine-tuning, ie increase the carbs a bit so as to stop losing more weight. An easier problem than cutting down.
The formula:
run 3x a week at least 5km each time - more is better, of course
my low-carb diet
Who wants to give it a try?
That's great! Congratulations! Keep it up! I, on the other hand, am stuck at my heaviest ever. :( Sigh..
