Cooking it up with Rei!!!

I gave Rei her first cooking lesson last night. I chose a dish that is very easy to prepare. Pan-friend lambchops seasoned with garlic and rosemary and served with boiled corn. This was our dinner last night! There were no complaints. Ria (Rei's mom and my sister) does not eat anything with garlic. She didn't seem to notice it at all and finished her food. How's that for motherly love? My early attempts at cooking and baking were met with the same kind of love from my own parents.

Rei is already asking what and when the next lesson will be. It will be macaroni with meat sauce and garlic bread on Wednesday!

This reminded me so much of my own cooking lessons when I was in my early teens. I attended Tita Pachot Martinez's summer cooking classes in UP Village. I went with my friend Emily Kimwell. My mom also learned the basics from Tita Pachot years before me. It would have been great if Rei could go to her -- but this is no longer possible... hopefully, Rei will learn to love cooking from me!

P.S. Here's Rei's second dish: spaghetti with meat sauce (all natural) served with garlic toast. This was our lunch on Wednesday.

You went to cooking lessons with Emy???I remember vividly, most of the sassies took baking for an elective in grade 10 while I was the always invited to taste. I remember the spice cake you guys did then. Next time you are in München, the kitchen is yours............Lillian
