No to Ferragamo

This is my dear sister's Ferragamo.

The shoulder strap is kaput.

I brought it to Ferragamo's IFC2 shop for repair only to be told (1) Ferragamo does not repair "old" models (the bag was purchased from Ferragamo Manila in 2006) and (2) as a policy, they only have spare parts for bags from the LAST TWO SEASONS!!!

Lesson learnt: From now on, buy only handbags that enjoy after sales service like Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

A couple of years ago, I needed repairs on a Louis Vuitton handbag. I brought it to their shop in Central. They took it, repaired it, and returned it after a couple of weeks. No questions asked. And, at no cost to me. I have friends who do not buy LV because they do not like the "screaming" monogramme design. To each his own. I love the brand inspite of all the fakes running around. Because, besides looking better with age (especially the monogram canvas ones), the after sales service is great. Clearly, the manufacturer believes that its products should last a lifetime.

Unfortunately, not so, with Ferragamo.

Conclusion: NO more Ferragamo handbags for my sisters and me!

  1. Thanks for this post. Hmmmm...You've convinced me to re-consider LV. To Ferragamo: Boo! :(
