Related to that reunion
A couple of conversations stuck to my mind in relation to that recent reunion with my Math friends.
At breakfast, the morning after:
Dad: How did the reunion go?
Me: Great fun. Here's an interesting observation. Dad, 8 out of 11 of those math majors are still single.
Dad: (Pondering ...) Well ... the boys these days are just not worthy.
Me: Ummm ... Dad, actually ... 4 of those are boys!
Dad: Whaaat? Really?
(Note to the boys ... manligaw kayo! Note to the girls: Hindi naman siguro tayo ang "unworthy".)
Here's another conversation with my niece who is currently a Math freshman in my former school. She is actually seriously thinking of shifting away from Math.
Me: Hei-hei, all my Math friends are doing very well.
Niece: What are they doing now?
Me: Well, there are 4 actuaries, 2 bankers, 2 Math professors, 2 entrepreneurs who co-own a very successful Kumon school, and 1 in Telecoms. A Math major has plenty of options.
Niece: Ummm ...
Me: Interestingly enough, 8 out the 11 are single.
Niece: Well!!! I am so glad that I am shifting out of Math!
(Note to self. Oops. Did that backfire?)
My classmate, Malou, posted our group picture on FB with this label: "Get-together with my Math-nerd friends." Cayen had happily observed, during the dinner, that we have not changed much since our college days. If you are a Math major then you would know that the conclusion is obvious. QED!
