Catching up with friends

Today was a regular working day. Still, I was able to do two very important things!

First, I met Jane Feliciano for her birthday (in advance) lunch at Harvey Nichols' Fourth Floor Restaurant & Bar. We enjoyed the set lunch (foie gras terrine, slow-cooked beef sirloin, pudding with ice cream). We even had a glass of white wine each! It was nice to have this time together. I did visit her last Saturday but we did not have the chance to get updated with each other's happenings. This was the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Second, I had dinner with the good-looking couple Marion Hufschmid and Paul Handy (ha ha private joke!). It's been awhile since I saw them last. We had burgers, ribs, and pasta at the Union Bar in the IFC Mall. We talked about life in HK and Basel: rising rents, pollution, travel, work and little funny things that happened to us recently. It was nice to just catch up! Marion is one of the big reasons why I enjoyed living in Basel so much. Although we met in HK, Marion was born and raised in Basel. She introduced me to her family and friends who made me feel very welcome and very at home in Switzerland. Marion and Paul came to Basel near the end of my stay there. I dug up this picture of the couple relaxing in our friend Jeanne's garden.
