The HKies dine in Cyma at the Shangrila Plaza

Soy celebrated his 39th with us on Wednesday. We went for greek in Cyma at the Shangri la Plaza. Around the same time last year, some of us were in Bora especially for Soy's birthday. It was there that we first sampled Cyma cuisine. The clam pasta (super-laden with clams - so if you are a clam fan, this is for you! we asked them to add more pasta), the ribs (sweet - to suit the Filipino taste), and the moussaka (heavy with lots of meat).

The restaurant would not take reservations so Grace sent one of her staff there at six to secure a table. Ohhhh.. I miss the conveniences of living in Manila. By seven, the place was packed. I read somewhere that celebrities frequent Cyma. So, we kept our eyes wide open. I was hoping that we would chance upon Jericho Rosales. No such luck. Well, in the end, Soy did spot a "celebrity", politician Mr Mel Mathay.

This is my most camera-ready group! Thus, the "insurance shots" and the VERY big smiles as we were leaving Cyma:

Now... who has the best smile???

  1. great photos, missy!

your choice of restaurant was inspired -- great food (my personal fave: the ceviche-like anchovies, in olive oil and served with pita bread) and relaxed ambiance, but it was the stories, jokes and dinner conversation that made the night truly enjoyable.

so, props to you for arranging what turned out to be an excellent night!

... and thanks for 'finessing' your write-up's lead-in line (re: my age)! this is probably the best birthday gift i received for this year! ha ha

it was delicious, and you are right...always a waiting list.
didn't you notice the seafood restaurant beside it (crustacious or something like that...) had absolutely no patrons??
