I went to two "new" (i,e., new to me!) places last Friday evening. I was with Doreen Rojo, Jerome Guevarra, and Richard So at the Martini's Bar of the Mandarin Oriental. I was very happy with their caipirinha! Thanks for organising, Jerome! And thanks for the treat, Richard!
Afterwards, we went to the Serendra. Our first choice was Abe which was full. We ended up in Guava. Hardworking Bel Fernandez and Janet Bagnes (BDO is so lucky!) joined us for dinner. I loved the crispy pata (I had been craving for this for at least the past three years! Seriously!), the pochero served with eggplant in vinegar, onions, and garlic(?), and the very yummy binagoongang eggplant (again... yes, I am guilty...!)! I can sum up my one week in Manila as follows: (eat+sleep)*7 days=5 lbs!
Very busog looking faces: Richard, Jerome, Janet, Bel, Doreen and me
After Guava, we went for a walk and I bumped into former colleagues of mine: Shirley and Alvin Trinidad. I took this picture to make Janey F inggit!

Hi Missy,
ReplyDeleteSaw a link to your blog from Benjie's. Its been great reading and seeing pics of school batchmates and former colleagues from FEBTC. Incidentally, there is a Yahoo group of FarEastBankers
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Fareastbankers/
I mostly get daily digests from it, rather than being a contributor. Work, my 2 sons and my wife's "honey do" list (home improvement projects) keeps me too busy.
Anyway, glad to get the update on you, and everyone else.
Hope we all have a great 25th year high school reunion in 2009. Looking forward to helping in anyway I can.
BTW, although I haven't posted it on the Batch 84 site, I echo the sentiment for some sort of get together during the June - Aug time frame - summer break from school for the kids here.
Cheers!
John
Hi John,
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know that you've been by!
I was in Manila this weekend and bumped into Anna Gatmaitan and Voltaire Bernardino. Their kids go to the same school as my niece. Anna mentioned that there is a move to have our batch reunion around August 2009 specifically to ensure that the US-based batchmates can fly in! And then we are the hosts of 2009 homecoming which will be in December.
Hope to see you next year.
All the best to you and the family,
Missy
