The scent of a woman

During my recent Singapore jaunt, I unexpectedly found myself buying a bottle of Eau de Parfum from Penhaligon’s. The sales associate was very patient as she helped me try several of their scents. She gave a bit of history about the company. She asked me for my preferences: fruity? floral? etc ...  And because she wasn’t pushy and had made the exercise of choosing the perfect scent such a delight, I wanted so much to give her some business. I eventually went for her first recommendation, Artemisia, which reminds me of my childhood. I.e., it smells so much like Johnson’s and Mennen baby cologne. Filipinos who were babies in the 1970s would know what I mean!

Penhaligon’s is an English perfume house founded in the 1860s by William Henry Penhaligon, a Court barber and perfumer of Queen Victoria. The perfumery continues to supply the royal household to this day and has Royal Warrants from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince of Wales. As an aside, I find it interesting that the company that perfumes the HRHs, including the heir to the British throne, is now owned by a US corporate finance group!
