Catalunya is on a quiet street which, before this visit, I had no idea existed in Wan Chai. The Chef worked at El Bulli and brought with him some molecular gastronomy recipes. That evening, we sampled his
Spherical Olives, one of the first reverse spherification dishes that was introduced at El Bulli in 2005. If you try only one thing at Catalunya then that must be it. HK18 a pop and well-worth the experience.
The service was tops. Our waiter was charming and knowledgeable. His suggestions were very good. He did not push us to order bottled water! He even reduced one of our orders from 2 to 1 as he thought we may have ordered too much. Even though the restaurant was full that evening, the noise level was low because the tables are set up so these are not too close to each other. It’s seldom that I get perfect customer service here in Hong Kong.
We ordered several tapas and 1 main dish. Our dessert called Torrija with milk ice cream was pretty special too. The ice cream had a smokey flavor! Here are the ones that I could have again and again. The sangria was presented like a witches’ brew. I love it when a restaurant goes through so much trouble for its diners.
We shall return.
