Home is where the heart is - Two Two Six Hollywood

I had dinner at Duddell's with Cathy and Sandy last night. Nevermind the food because Ilse Crawford and her team designed and executed the Cantonese restaurant's interiors at a cost of HK50 million. If I were to wake up from this dream that I am having now, I would be living in one of Ilse's  earlier Hong Kong projects, 226 Hollywood Road in Sheung Wan. But, reality bites ... very hard indeed. And, I would be very, very happy already if I could just attempt  to capture/copy her aesthetics in a much, much smaller yet personal project. Perhaps, it will be in Manila where I could still afford to buy something old to upcycle!

My stalking efforts resulted in this collection of pictures. She had me in a second with those cement floors, the oiled wood, and unpolished brass hardware. There's just not a single thing out of place. Even the postcards and books thrown haphazardly on the dining table are exactly where they should be.

I love Ilse.
